Covid-19 - Changes to Canvas Training
What will happen to Canvas face to face training?
In light of the updated Covid-19 advice and the continually changing situation, the Canvas team will not be delivering face to face training in April or May. This will reduce unnecessary contact and we will continue to monitor the situation and comunicate to you when we are clearer about when face to face delivery can recommence.
We are currently working on alternative solutions for colleagues who have booked on to a face to face session in April or May including live webinars via Zoom, and developing the online resources we have already made available.
As I'm sure you recognise, this is a very challenging situation and we are doing all we can to minimise disruption.
As you know we have developed comprehensive online resources to support you in your use of Canvas, particularly the online orientation course, so please make best use of this and the other resources available until you can attend a face to face session. These are detailed below.
Is there training available online?
Yes. There are a number of online resources available;
Access to the 24/7 help from Canvas. This is a fantastic resource and is available to all staff and students. You can contact Canvas via live chat, from within the platform, phone or email for all of your ‘How do I’ questions.
The online Canvas Orientation course accessed from the Canvas dashboard. This has been designed to support you in using the key features and tools in Canvas and there are a number of self-check quizzes for you to check your understanding as you work through each section.
- The Digital Learning website. This is a key source of information with answers to FAQs, upcoming events and project timelines.
- Webinars which will be available shortly
Can I still access Canvas?
Yes. Please go to https://canvas.ncl.ac.uk and log in with your firstname.lastname@example.org account. Once you have access you will see your personal sandbox (practice) course and the Canvas Orientation course on your Canvas dashboard.
Please note: Canvas does not support Internet Explorer so please use an alternative browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
How will this affect the transition to Canvas?
We are continuing to plan for a full transition to Canvas by July 31st 2020. This will continue to be monitored and any changes will be communicated as soon as possible.
What can I do to support Canvas implementation?
We recognise this is a difficult time for everyone and ask that all colleagues support us in the transition to Canvas by engaging with our online resources.
Thank you for your support
The Canvas Implementation Team.
