Phishing email - 'New Payroll' - Friday 9th August

We are aware of a phishing email being received on campus with the subject 'New Payroll' - this is a phishing email and should just be deleted.

Please remember:

  • The University will never ask for your password.
  • If you receive an email that asks for your password or financial details, it will be a scam.

What should I do if I suspect an email is fake?

  • Simply delete the email.
  • Don't respond, open any attachments or click any links.​
  • Right-click on the message and mark the email as 'Junk'
  • If in doubt, contact the sender to confirm if a request is real.​
There is no requirement to report receipt of this email to the IT Service Desk. H​owever, if you have clicked on the link and provided your login details, please contact the IT Service Desk immediately on 0191 208 5999 for further guidance.
