Service Description
NorMAN is the regional education network in the North East of England. NorMAN delivers JANET services to higher, further and related education institutions and specialist colleges under contract to JANET(UK).
NorMAN is managed by a consortium of the five higher-education institutions in the North East of England.
Newcastle University currently acts as the NorMAN Network Operator and holds contracts on behalf of the Consortium to deliver the services defined under the JANET Partner Agreement.
NorMAN also provides email scanning facilities to a number of institutions connected to the regional network. This optional, paid-for, service is managed by Newcastle University on behalf of the Consortium.

Users
NorMAN provides access to JANET for members of the connected institutions.
Service Hours
24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The preferred JANET maintenance period is on Tuesday between 07:00-09:00. Further planned maintenance times will be publicised in advance if there will be a disruption to the service.
Level of Service
Service levels are defined in the JANET Partner Agreement.
Support and Documentation
Support is provided by NorMAN Network Operations Centre at Newcastle University.
