Adobe Acrobat Pro has been replaced with Adobe Express

Adobe Acrobat Pro will no longer be available from 30 November 2024. This will be replaced with Adobe Express on 2 December, a more versatile and user-friendly tool that will be available free to all University colleagues and students, funded by NUIT under our Adobe Enterprise License Agreement.

All University colleagues will still be able to perform basic PDF functions such as viewing, adding comments, and printing on Adobe Viewer or other PDF viewing apps, such as Microsoft Edge. If users require more advanced editing tools, they can use Adobe Express or Adobe Creative Cloud*.

Adobe Acrobat Express offers a range of new features and benefits, including:

  • simplified user interfacedesigned to be more intuitive and easier to use than Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • enhanced collaborationoffering better tools for sharing and collaborating on documents, making it easier for teams to work together.
  • creative tools including a variety of design and creative tools that are not available in Adobe Acrobat Pro, allowing users to create more visually appealing documents.
  • cloud integration integrating seamlessly with cloud services, Adobe Express enables easy access to documents from any device.

To support this change, we have created step-by-step guides and a video on how to use Adobe Express for PDF management and editing.

Adobe’s website is another useful resource for more information on Acrobat Express, including tutorials on basic tasks, advanced tasks, animation, videos, and templates.

As part of the new agreement, University students will also be able access Adobe Express for free from 2 December.

Check out our website for full details of Adobe software available.

*Adobe Acrobat Professional can still be accessed via Adobe Creative Cloud, which can be purchased as an individual subscription for £71.26 (inc VAT) per year, under a three-year agreement. However, this expense will need to be funded by your own cost centre.
