I can’t see the printer
The SecurePrint-Staff queue should already be available on your university device. If you can't see it, try the following:
- Log out and back in
- Restart your device
If the printer is still missing, contact the IT Service Desk or log a self-service request at nuservice.ncl.ac.uk
My print job isn’t showing
- Try logging out and back in at the printer
- Check you selected the correct queue
Do I need print credit?
- Staff do not need print credit for standard printing
- Student arrangements may differ per school or faculty
How do I set SecurePrint-Staff as my default print queue?
- Choose your default printer in Windows 10
- Choose your default printer in Windows 11
- Choose your default printer on Mac

I’m using a Mac and having issues
Try the following Mac guidance:
- Print documents from your Mac
- Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac
- Choose your default printer on Mac
I need to print in colour
- Open your document
- Select Print
- Select the SecurePrint-Staff print queue
- Select Preferences.
- Open the Quality tab.
- Set Select Colour to Auto Colour.
- Select OK, then select Print.
There is a problem with the printer
If a device requires consumables or maintenance please quote the device name (found on the printer) to the IT Service Desk or log a self-service request at nuservice.ncl.ac.uk
I'm having trouble logging in to the printer
- Tap your ID card at the front of the printer or
- Try manually entering your University login details (use the shift key to enable uppercase letters or special characters)
- Contact the IT Service Desk or log a self-service request at nuservice.ncl.ac.uk
