Green PC purchasing policy

The University has a "green" purchasing policy for desktop computers.  The policy describes a standard specification which will cater for most needs.

If you feel you need to arrange purchase of PCs out-with this specification please contact IT Service Desk who will pass your request on for consideration. In this case you should make clear why your needs cannot be met from the standard specification.

For PCs, the "standard" specification is:  

Intel Core 6th generation Intel quad core i5-6500 3.2GHz.

Q170 express chipset Intel HD integrated graphics capable of driving 2 monitors

16 Gb DDR4-2133 SDRAM.

SATA hard drive 256GB SSD.

Optical multi-DVDRW drive.

Integrated Gigabit Network Connection.

24 inch non hard glass business class IPS monitor 1920x1200, wide-screen.

[*] The CPU and video system together with the necessary power supply have the largest impact on power consumption.
