AV Resource Bookings

 TECHNICAL SUPPORT

‌Audio-visual systems in centrally supported spaces are designed to be intuitive and simple to use.  We do however strongly encourage first-time users to visit a venue in advance to familiarise themselves in using the equipment.  Instructions are provided in all spaces and AV assistance can be quickly provided during your session by calling (208) 82627 from the phone in the room.

If you would like to meet with a member of our technical team for a demonstration of the AV system prior to your session, then we can arrange this.  Please see our request process for further information.

More information regarding what technology can be found in each room is available via the University Room Finder system.

REMOTE PRESENTERS

Please note that we do not provide remote presenters (clickers) therefore you will need to purchase your own.

If you wish to purchase your own remote presenter from a University cost centre please log a self service ticket for new Hardware via NU Service.

LOANING OR HIRING AV EQUIPMENT

NUIT Audio Visual Services do not have AV equipment available for loan. Alternatively AV equipment hire or event production services can be procured from external suppliers.

We would strongly recommend finding an alterative venue that has suitable equipment to meet the requirements of your event.

If you wish to purchase portable AV equipment from a University cost centre please log a self service ticket for new Hardware via NU Service.

The recommended device (Logitech R400) costs c£30 plus VAT.

HYBRID EVENTS

The majority of spaces on campus are not currently set up to provide a hybrid experience however, it is possible to connect a laptop to the AV system in any space and host a call via Zoom or Teams.

The camera and microphone capabilities on a laptop will limit the interactivity between your in person and remote audience in the majority of venues.

Careful planning is required on how best to manage this interaction and we would strongly recommend testing in advance of delivering any hybrid events on campus.

We have provided some information and considerations on hosting hybrid events and details of venues set up to support Inclusive Hybrid Learning Spaces via this link

RECORDING EVENTS

ReCap enabled venues are set up to enable all digital content from devices connected to the AV system (e.g. PC, laptop, Doc Cam) and the presenter voice to be recorded. Please note that this service will not record a video of the actual presenter.  Please see this link for further details on Timetabled teaching bookings and one off (non-timetabled) bookings

If your event is taking place in a Hybrid enabled venue, then it is possible to record your event via Teams (and capture a video of the actual presenter/audience) or record via ReCap (if you do not require a video of the actual presenter).
