The Internet and Network Connection service enable students, colleagues and guests to connect to the internet and access resources on the University’s network. 

Network Transformation Project (NTP)

The Network Transformation Project is a multi-year scheme that aims to replace all network infrastructure across the University. 

Due to the existing network infrastructure reaching the end of its supportable life, there is a need to replace all wired and wireless networking infrastructure across central campus, satellite sites, NUMed and NewRIIS. This is a University-wide project and will eventually impact everyone at the organisation at some point or other as the work moves from building to building.

This is the single biggest investment in IT infrastructure the University has ever made. The new network will deliver significant service improvements including increased Wi-Fi availability across campus, secure environments for our researchers and the ability to isolate and shut-down any future cyber-attacks more quickly and effectively.

As the project progresses, we will begin to transform buildings and this will introduce new Wi-Fi options to a building once the transformation is complete.
