NTP - New connection methods
Choosing the right connection method in a transformed building
If you are in a transformed building, you will notice updated connection options for staff, students and visitors. The table below details which buildings have already been transformed:

NCL-Enterprise
For University-managed and approved University-owned devices
Use NCL-Enterprise if your device is:
- Managed by NUIT
- A University-owned Windows, Mac, or Linux desktop/laptop
- Registered under the University's accountability framework
This network provides secure access to University services and resources.
Examples:
- Your University-issued staff laptop
- A managed desktop in an office
- A registered research or specialist University-owned device
You may also use a wired connection/dock with these devices where available.

Eduroam
For personal devices and visitors
Use Eduroam if you are connecting with:
- A personal mobile phone*
- A tablet*
- A personal laptop
- A personal MacBook
- A visitor device from another participating Higher Education institution
*Personal mobile phones and tablets will not be able to access University services (such as Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive) unless they are registered with the Secure Mobile Access to University Apps and Services project. Wired Connections
For approved University devices only
Wired network access is available for:
- University-managed devices
- Approved University-owned registered devices
Wired access is not available for personal devices.
If there is a business or operational reason a personal device requires wired access, this must be approved as an exception by Cyber Security, who will ensure appropriate security controls are in place.
