WiFi Certificate Update (2024-2025)

From 11:00am on 3rd September 2024, we’ll be making some updates to the university WiFi certificatewhich may affect your connection to the service.
How this may affect you

If you simply entered your university username and password to configure WiFi, you are not using certificates, or have chosen to ignore certificates, the service will continue to work as before. You may be asked to re-enter your username and password to connect to WiFi after the change.

IOS users that have configured with TOFU (Trust on First Use) may need to forget the newcastle-university and eduroam networks and then reconnect.

If you configured WiFi using the eduroam CAT tool, your connection to university WiFi should continue to work as normal but if you have issue beyond accepting the certificate change or needing to re-enter your username and password, you can:

a) Reconfigure your device to ignore certificates.

b) Once the certificate has changed, use the eduroam CAT tool to install the certificate profile "All Users (2022-2024)"

If you lose connectivity on 3rd September, either disable certificate checking or use 3G, the WiFi Guest service or a wired connection to get on the Internet. Then visit cat.eduroam.org and use the CAT tool or geteduroam app (available from your app store) as directed, to connect to WiFi.
