Free Microsoft Software for "STEM Educators"

As a benefit of the University's licence arrangements with Microsoft, staff who teach on STEM courses or who setup computing labs for STEM students are able to access Microsoft software for educational use via Microsoft's Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program.  Software covered by this program can be downloaded and installed onto a personal PC or laptop. 

The program includes many of Microsoft's popular tools, including:

  • Windows Client
  • Project
  • Visio
  • Visual Studio
  • SQL Server

Note: This software program was previously known as Microsoft Imagine.  

To access the offer visit the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching site, login by clicking the "Sign in" link on the right hand side and then following the instructions to access the Azure Platform.

 

Azure Dev Tools for Teaching Important Information:

  • When using software as part of the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program, you must comply with the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching Agreement. This agreement is between you and Microsoft. The software is not owned or supported by the University
  • Ensure that you read and understand the system requirements before installing any Microsoft products
  • You may use the software for non-commercial purposes including instructional use, research and/or design, development and testing of projects for class assignments or personal projects
  • You may not use the software for any for-profit software development
  • When you are no longer a registered student/member of staff in a department that is a member of the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching program, you may no longer receive updates for your personal use computer. However, you may continue to use previously installed software on your computer, provided you continue to follow the program guidelines
