Software Licence: Matlab

High-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Includes Simulink.

University Owned Machines

This licence is centrally funded. There will be no recharge to Schools for installation on University-owned machines.

To request installation of Matlab on a university device, please raise a service request using this form.

You must provide the name of the machine you wish the software to be installed on. 

Staff and Students' Personal Machines

Personal copies of this software are available to registered members of staff and students for installation on their own machines for academic purposes whilst they are members of the University. 

To obtain a personal copy, please use the following link : https://uk.mathworks.com/

On the Mathworks web page, click on Open Matlab and login using your university email address; you will be redirected to the University's standard login page and will need to re-enter your email address and password as you do when logging into the University network. 

If this is the first time you have used Matlab, you will be prompted to create a Matlab account.  Once you have logged into your Matlab account, you can then download the software for installation. 

Important Information

Matlab Online

Access to Matlab and Simulink is also available online, without the need to install any software.  To access this service you will need to login with your Matlab user ID at https://uk.mathworks.com/products/matlab-online.html

Matlab Use on Overseas Campus

The Matlab licence does not cover colleagues on the Malaysia campus (those with an email address with the domain @newcastle.edu.my).  If any colleagues in Malaysia have a requirement for Matlab, please contact us to discuss options.
