Core Software Applications:

The core applications you will find on the majority of standard University Clusters will be available via the “Central Clusters Desktop”, "HASS Desktop" or "FMS Desktop" where versions of software will run concurrently with on campus clusters.

Specialised Teaching Applications:

Please use the School Desktop that best describes the course you are studying with us. For example: If you are doing a Chemical Engineering course and looking for the application Aspen Plus: This will be available on the “Chemical Engineering & Advanced Materials Desktop” or if you are studying Architecture and need to use Sketchup then you’ll need to log into the “Architecture, Planning & Landscape Desktop”

What academic software is available for 2023/24?

The table below lists all of the software which is available on the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) platform, the specific AVD School Desktop on which it is present and the version of the software which is available. 

Remove the AzLabs Statement 

Under Physical Labs, insert or licensing complications may be a factor for lack of AVD Installation. 

How do I request additional software?

Requests for additional software for teaching purposes should be made via the module leader, degree programme director or another academic who is involved in the delivery of your course. Any configuration changes / software upgrades must be done in consultation with all academic staff who have requested specific software packages. The only exclusion to this is Security Updates where NUIT will mandatorily update the software. 

If you are an academic member of staff and were previously using an older version of software than that which is currently deployed and there are technical reasons why you cannot use the later version, please complete the Unsupported Version Request form and a member of the team will contact you.
