Adobe Licenses

Adobe has adopted a subscription-only license model for all future versions of its creative applications, requiring an annual subscription fee to ensure continued access.

Adobe Creative Cloud

The Adobe Creative applications are grouped under the Adobe Creative Cloud, available only on a subscription basis, i.e. there is an annual charge for use. Some of the popular applications included within the Creative Cloud are:

  • Adobe Photoshop: Digital images and design
  • Adobe Illustrator: Vector graphics
  • Adobe InDesign: Publishing layouts
  • Adobe Premiere Pro: Video editing
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro: PDF editing
  • Adobe Lightroom: Photo organization and sharing

Adobe Express

Adobe Express is replacing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. This versatile and user-friendly tool is available to all University colleagues and students and is funded by NUIT under our Adobe Enterprise License Agreement.

Colleagues can perform basic PDF functions such as viewing, adding comments, and printing on other PDF viewing apps, such as Microsoft Edge. For more advanced PDF editing tools, users can use Adobe Express, see our step-by-step guides to editing PDFs in Adobe Express.

For more information on Adobe Express, visit Adobe’s website, which includes tutorials on basic tasks, advanced tasks, animation, videos, and templates.

Adobe Acrobat Pro Licence (as part of Adobe Creative Cloud)

Adobe Acrobat Pro can still be accessed via Adobe Creative Cloud but must be purchased as an individual annual subscription. However, this expense will need to be funded by your own cost centre.
